A One Call Now was issued today as follow up communication regarding the incident that occurred at Northwestern Jr./Sr. High School earlier this week.
On January 24, 2018, at approx. 8:30 am, a staff member was alerted by a student that another student claimed to have a small handgun at school. The student was immediately removed from class, police were notified, and a search was conducted by Northwestern staff. NO WEAPON was found.
The student was removed from school premises at approx. 9:30 am. Further investigation later that day by police discovered a weapon in the car of the student's guardian, leading police to believe that the student may have had the weapon on school premises.
As part of the ongoing investigation today, and thanks to the diligence of our students who brought it to the attention of staff, we have recovered a kitchen knife that was hidden on school property.
German Township Police are actively involved in this ongoing investigation, and you can be assured that the situation was handled quickly and quietly. Students are safe and were likely unaware of the situation at that time.
Thank you for your ongoing support. If you should have any questions or concern, please contact Northwestern Local Schools 937-964-3233.
