Superintendent's Message

It is a great time to be a Warrior!

In the newsletter last fall, I talked about a spirit renewed and the promise of a new school year. I encouraged you to come join us for a concert, performance, or competition. With all of the great people and programs we had in place, we felt like last year was going to be one of Northwestern’s best years ever and we were right!

We were the CBC All Sports champions for the second year in a row! We set new school records in at least six different sports! Our band scored a superior at the state competition, the first in school history. We had more Jan Van Gorder Scholar Award winners than ever before, over 150 students had a cumulative grade point average of over 3.70 in the high school! And these were just a few of the highlights from last year. As you can see, it is a great time to be a Warrior.

Believe it or not, I am more excited for this coming school year than I was last fall. We had one of the best school years ever last year and I think we can top it. We are expanding our use of technology in the classrooms as we integrate our new technology plans. We are also looking at increasing the amount of STEM activities in our classrooms and adding a “Makers Space” at the elementary. Mr. Shane Carter is joining us as the new varsity head football coach. His energy and leadership should lead us to our third straight CBC All Sports trophy. Mr. Hobby wouldn’t have it any other way! So, it is definitely a great time to be a Warrior!

Northwestern feels more like a family than a school district. I have a quote on my white board in my office. “Family - The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life." I encourage you to join us again this year—be a part of the Warrior Family. Come and listen to our student section sing the fight song before and after a game. Witness our students climbing to new heights in the fine arts. Or come and share in the respect and joy we have for each other, come and feel the pride our students have as Warriors. Because…
