To increase student wellness and address barriers that prevent students from engaging in learning, schools and districts are now required to provide feminine hygiene (menstrual) products for students in grades six through twelve. In the 2022-23 school year, there were over 476,000 female students in grades six through twelve that this new requirement will impact. Effective Oct. 3, 2023, Ohio Law requires each traditional public school district, community school, STEM school, chartered nonpublic school and other public school with school buildings that enroll girls in grades six through twelve to provide free menstrual products. In response to this law, Northwestern Local Schools will provide free and easy access to feminine hygiene products in our clinics and care closet. Additionally, “grab-n-go” hygiene bags have been assembled and are also available in the Jr/Sr High clinic.

Good afternoon NWES Parents and Guardians. This afternoon at approximately 3:15 p.m. one of our fourth-grade staff members experienced an emergency health situation. The students in the classroom were taken to another classroom with the assistance of other staff members. If your student was in this class during this emergency and is struggling emotionally, we will have support in place for them tomorrow at school. This staff member is receiving the medical attention that is needed. Please keep this person in your thoughts and prayers. Feel free to call or email the school if you feel your student could use assistance. Thank you!

Hello Northwestern Elementary Parents! We are sending this message to provide reminders for our afternoon dismissal procedures. For those of you who are already following these procedures, THANK YOU! Please see the list below: 1. Enter campus from the Penny Pike entrance. Do not use the main entrance off State Rt. 41 and/or start or join a line that leads away from the Junior/Senior High School. 2. Pull as far forward as you can before your student(s) load into your vehicle. 3. Arrange car seats so that they are on the right side/curbside of your vehicle. It is recommended that you pull into the parking lot area to buckle your students rather than holding up the line. 4. Stay in your vehicle during this process. Staff members are on sight to assist. 5. If you plan to pick your students up daily, a note must be on file in the office. You will also need to acquire a red pick-up tag that can be picked up in the office. We have already started shaving time off of this process and will continue to do so. If you have different relatives who are going to pick your student(s) up in the future, please make them aware of our pickup procedures. Your patience and cooperation in following these procedures is greatly appreciated and most importantly, ensures the safety of our students. Thank you and GO WARRIORS!!!!

The family of Aiden Clark wishes to issue the following statement to the local community and media: “We are grateful for the thoughts and prayers directed to our family in this very difficult time. The show of support over the last several days — especially from those who knew our son — has been especially heartwarming. Words cannot describe the heartache and emptiness that we feel knowing he is no longer with us. The past days have been extremely difficult for our family. We ask everyone — including media, friends and others — to respect our privacy and provide us time to grieve our loss. We appreciate your cooperation while we cope with this tragedy in the coming days and weeks. Thank you for your understanding and for the care and love you have shown and continue to show to our family.” A local account has been established for individuals and organizations interested in making a contribution to the Clark family during this unimaginable time. Checks can be made out to Fidelity FBO - Nathan and Danielle Clark and mailed to P.O. Box 37, North Hampton, OH 45349.

Attention Parent’s/Guardian's of new students, 7th and 12th graders: This is the final notice for required immunization records. In accordance with Ohio Law, your child will be excluded from school beginning Tuesday September 12, 2023, until these requirements are met. Absences will be counted as unexcused and extended absences may result in truancy. Immunizations are offered at the Clark County Health Department by appointment only. They are currently scheduling appointments in October. Please provide me with your child's appointment date, if it is past September 12th. This will allow your child to remain in school after the set exclusion date. Local pharmacies/minute clinics and your pediatrician are also options for obtaining immunizations. Be sure to call these providers first, as they may not carry the required vaccines. If you are planning to refuse the required immunizations for religious or philosophical reasons, an updated exemption form must be signed yearly. That form can be obtained from the school or on our website under the health and wellness tab. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
